This project will support and sustain community-based networks to facilitate increased access to primary care and better health for their communities.  East Texas Health Access Network (ETHAN), comprised of Jasper, Newton, Sabine, San Augustine, and Tyler counties established a steering committee and definite direction and goals.

1) compiling the locum tenens directory and process locum tenens relief requests, 2) providing monthly in-services on various topics aimed at increasing access to care, 3) partnering with network members to provide no or low cost health screening to citizens, 4) map health related resources within the communities, and 5) assisting in dental HPSA designation for Jasper, Sabine, San Augustine, and Tyler counties if appropriate.

The group will establish membership, leadership, and community goals.  Activities will include:  1) developing a community Resource Directory, 2) conducting a community survey to assess consumer perception of health access and health needs,  3) conducting health fairs, 4) assisting in dental HPSA designation for the counties if appropriate, and 5) identifying and pursuing sustainable funding for projects identified through the assessment and mapping process.
